Even the Mitchell who disappointed against Katsidis still probably stops Murray. He is a class above.

Murray is tough and it's impressive he has such a long unbeaten record even at the level he's been fighting at but he is not a world-level fighter. Mitchell with the right dedication and focus is a world-level fighter.

It was laughable how the Sky sports commentary team tried to use Murray's 7 months of inactivity to explain his deficiencies in the ring last night. I don't care if he didn't fight for 2 years, any top supposedly world class fighter should have stopped that guy within 6 rounds. One of the commentators even said 'This simply isn't the guy who looked so impressive against Buckland and Lawton.' I'm sorry, Buckland and Lawton? Murray's had 30+ fights and the best names on his resume are two domestic journeyman, one of which was destroyed by Khan over 3-4 years ago and has lost his last 3 fights. If that's world class, then Rios, Marquez, Katsidis, and even Mitchell must be fighting on the galactic plain.

I don't want to hate, as I used to support Murray and believed he could go all the way. But the years of fighting bums have prevented him from developing into the good, well rounded fighter he should have been. As it stands, he is a quality domestic/european level operator, with no pop, and no defence. If he fights any real top 10/20 fighter in the LW division, he will lose.

It's a shame because while Murray would have never of been special, he could have become a solid contender, which is something I don't think he is capable of now.

I agree, mitchell to beat murray on points in a great fight. mitchell is a very skillfull fighter with good lateral movement and footwork . Any one who studies fighters styles knows the perfect way to beat john murray is to use the jab and move turning him inside out not giving him a chance to set himself for his big shots. thats the way mitchell fights so thats why i think mitchell wins .
