I wouldnt say **** the fans because this fight would actually be ppv worthy unlike some other fights that have been made recently.

So winning a belt and not fighting someone in a year span who almost no one cared about and then moving up to fight a world champion is a duck? ok.........

No talking about money and a fighter not being a draw and the fighting Rogers Mtagwa is a duck. The Cab fight could have been sold on the bad blood and the fact that he was a unified champ. It would have made more and meant more then a Mtagwa fight thats for sure

I think Rafa Marquez was doing good considering that EVERYTIME he hurt Juanma it was with his left which is not his powerhand. Take a look at the video not once did he go after Juanma with his right which is his money punch.

Why not, give him another chance.

And Juanma is talking like if he already beat Rafa and Orlando Salido who is no push over. Salido is way better than Jorge Solis.

On the subject, I believe the 4 pounds will benefit Juanma more than Gamboa.

Gamboa is a little dude and Juanma has the frame to add muscle and I also believe that the 4 pounds will make him absorb better punishment, you will see how much better he will look at 130. Gamboa relies on his speed and those 4 pounds will hurt his speed.

            Close fight really.

the event should be called, "the best of the Caribbean." or something similar.

I look at it this way. In 2009, when the economy took a big downturn here in the U.S. and the world, everybody agreed the amount of PPV fights would be kept to a minimum. There were 4 major cards and a some independent, cheaper ones thrown in. In 2010, they went right back to throwing everything on PPV.

Now, look at this year, we've already had a few and have several lined up: Cotto vs. Mayorga, Segura vs. Calderon II, Maidana vs. Morales, Pacquiao vs. Mosley, Adamek vs. McBride, Holyfield vs. Nielsen and they will putting JMM vs. Zab Judah on PPV (read article on Ring TV) and all these are within a few months. That's seven expensive PPV cards ($40 or more) in three months? I may buy Pacquiao vs. Mosley because my father really likes to watch Pacquiao fight but other than that, I won't buy any of these. Even if I wasn't unemployed I don't know if I would put down the cash...

So maybe Gamboa vs. Juanma will be worth it but what about all the others that will be on that year too. Way too many for this economy...

There are more challenges at 126 than 130 and bigger money fights. Unless he can't do 126 anymore. I hope he is not getting lazy and don't want to train extra to keep the weight down

The change in weight comes as no surprise. JuanMa's hinted at moving up before, and Yuri mentioned it after the Solis fight. The only thing that really caught my attention was that a fight date came out of Lopez's own mouth. Does that mean that JuanMa's finally told "Uncle" Bob that he wants the fight, no matter what? Or does it mean that Arum gave his blessing for that date?

I wanted to see this fight contested at 126. I know what Gamboa can do at this weight; I don't know what he'll be like at 130. Anything is possible. Yuri's frame allows a limit of 140, IMO. JuanMa looks capable of stepping up to welterweight, in the future. Whatever the case, I'll be excited to see this fight at last. I can wait another year, or so. I just hope this isn't a tease....

I've never wanted to call Lopez a ducker. I never really bought the idea that JuanMa avoided anyone, other than to obey his promoter or make money (basically the same thing). That being said, your statement makes all the sense in the world.

wtf? Juanma said after salido he was gonna fight gamboa. And gamboa repeated this in the ring after he said it. And now he's talking about June 2012?? This is bull**** and another reason why boxing is dying. These guys aren't guranteed to remain undefeated until then. This is ******!
