Comments like that annoy me, what Bradley got he earned through hardwork. Yes I think Pacquiao won but at the end of the day if Bradley didn't show heart to sweep the later rounds he wouldn't have walked out with the W on the judges scorecard.
People's reaction to this fight makes me laugh, it shows what star power does. I didn't read people saying ''Pacquiao should hand his title back to Marquez'' after losing the fight in the eyes of the majority.
If Bradley walked up to MannyP and handed back the belt, saying "I just know that I didn't win and don't deserve this belt". His stock would go a mile high. His name wouild be remembered as long as boxing existed. An d he would get enormous amounts of endorsments as well as probably lots of good fight offers. not to mention a sure retuern fight with Pacquiao, at an increased fee.And there would be a real cleaning out of incompetent referees, many of whom would retire rather than face a similiar situation. The Three Blind Mice for instance.
Coming from Mr. Backyard himself. The dude fights in his hometown with hometown judges 90% of the time...why does he think that's the case? It's in case of a close decision so that it's sure to go in his favor.
Also you can tell that these things said for sensationalism or people who don't understand how things are valued in the sport of boxing. Right now I don't think Pacquiao is sitting at home thinking ''Ohh no my WBO belt'' when he has fighter of the decade award and WBC belts to look at.
WBO belt is small trinket that he would probably relinquish the moment they tried enforcing his mandatory challenger.
What matters to Pacquiao is not something Bradley can return to him by offering up his belt. It is the blip on his resume and a possible decline in his marketability.
It's not about the belt itself, it's about the gesture, it would be symbolic.
