Cliff Rold could have also mentioned the 2 fights between Terry Norris & Simon Brown..In the 1st fight Terry Norris(At the time WBC 154lbs champ making his 11th defense)started trading with Brown & suffered a knockdown in the 1st & then got KNOCKED THE *** OUT in the 4th by Brown & Brown was ahead by 2 points in 2 of the judges score cards & 1 judge had Norris ahead by 1 point.. In the 2nd fight(5 months later) Norris gave Brown the BOXING LESSON of his life!! Norris boxed circles around Brown(who was making the 2nd defense of the WBC title he had won from Norris) & had Brown lost & going crazy & Norris won a CLEAR CUT & well deserved Unanimous decision & regained his title!!

& also the 2 times Gerald McClellan & Julian Jackson fought..The 1st time McClellan Knocked Jackson(WBC 160lbs champ making his 5th defense) the *** out in the 5th & at the time Jackson was ahead on 2 scorecards & 1 had it a draw..Then 1 year & 3 fights later for Jackson they had the rematch & this time McClellan(who was making his 3rd defense) KO'd Jackson again, but this time in the 1st round!!!

Those where great fight cards at that time. Almost every fight was a named fighter against a named opponent. Don King is a scammer but his cards were solid. And to figure that most of those fights were not the main event

I have to agree with you.. i dont see how anyone can say that Floyyd won that fight convincingly.. I had it a draw my self..

SCORING: Judges Chuck Giampa (116-112) and Jerry Roth (115-113) scored the fight for Mayweather. Tom Kaczmarek (115-113) scored in favor of De La Hoya. While De La Hoya appeared to win the twelfth round, Jerry Roth gave it to Mayweather. Had Roth scored the final round for De La Hoya, his card would have read 114-114 and the fight would have been ruled a draw

Great write-up, love the history references. Now I'm gonna go find a link for the first fight.

This guy Rold credits the 'Fan Man' for Holyfields win against Bowe in the rematch! I don't get that because Bowe was fat and out of shape. They both got the same rest when Fan Man entered the ring and Holyfield was often backing Bowe up and even rocked him in the 5th round. Rold needs to get his head out of his ass, if anything, the Fan Man helped Bowe more than it did Holyfield...

Just because a close fight goes the opposite way of how you scored it. Doesn't make it a robbery/gift.

And, that fight should have been the third fight of the trilogy...Why didn't the 2nd fight happen sooner?

Yea, yea I know, I know Pac is a bitch....Fucking ey...
I was careful with my wording, because I knew that someone would call me out

A robbery? No, the fight was too close.

              But, a gift? Absolutely, imho.

I could stomach an argument for a draw, maybe, but Manny did not win that fight, and he certainly did not win by 3 rounds, what fkn fight was Ford watching?

I am with the vast majority that saw Marquez edge a close one.

And the look on Manny's face prior to the winner being announced, said it all.
