It is a crooked game and always has been. There is no way to play it without getting your hands dirty if you want to get anywhere with it anyways.

Even with him he is known for his bad temper he seems alright but to me he comes across as a guy that is for his fighters (which is good) but if you are working in your guys best interests you do have to grease some wheels from time to time.

I don't agree that Arum is as you say. He does the best for his fighters and the public. If he didn't he wouldn't be the most successful promoter in boxing history. "Arum-trouble" only occurs when, after he has built up a fighter, another, jealous promoter, like Golden Balls, tries to steal him away.

Nobody, even the best promoter (who is NOT a matchmaker) can predict when and how a fight will end, and sometimes they end unsatisfactorily. Not Arum's, or generally any promoter's fault, unless they deliberately "penny-pinch" with the headliner and the undercard. Di Bella is a good promoter, Square ring and Kushner are good promoters, but not in the same cllass as Top Rank. Golden Balls is "so-so".

            Period.

I disagree about Arum caring about others interest, he is out for his own interests. Not that that is overly evil and it is not like he has crazy interests that never align with others interests.

If he thinks the public will meet his demands on the cash and his guy is in a decent spot he will do what the public wants, but if his interests are not met he won't care and will do what he wants. Then he has to play PT Barnum and fool people into thinking that is what they want.

As for fighters yea he will act on behalf of guys who interests align with his but once they no longer benefit him he doesn't care anymore.

I think you are unfair to Arum, he does NOT act only for himself. He is the more visible part of Top Rank because he was the prime mover in starting the company, but he has shareholders, and directors a board he has to answer to etc. He is just the most prominent of many. His step-son holds a very prominent official position, and he is grooming him to take over when he either retires or dies. I think he'll die "in harness", and I like to see that even at his age he has the desire and spirit to live and work.

My late father G-D bless him, went to his factory office and worked every day until he passed away at age 86. I admire that.

To me that is all the same, his company is his interest. It is not evil because if a person is not going to look out for their own interests who is going to but
I just can't give him credit other than being a stellar business man which he certainly is.

Arum will definitely work until the end I agree there and he certainly worked his ass off to build his company so it is not like he is without admirable qualities.
