Gomez beat Zarate and Pintor who were some of mexicos best at the time, and they both get along with him till this day. Camacho though was a huge shit talker.

True Camacho was a character but he was very naive and lacking in public relation skills. A kid off the NYC streets in awe of his new found status. He was a skilled fighter and at 135lbs was a better puncher too. Camacho wasted a lot of his talent on the nightlife and drugs. He could have done more in the sport had he been more focused and mature.

Mexico is home to 100 million. It's expected that you should have a lot of fighters in the sport. To that I say, without only a fraction of that number, PRs are doing big things in the sport of Boxing. In fact, PRs have the lead on Mexico in PR VS Mexico fights. Not bad for a tiny tropical Island.

I won't Lie PR has had a lot of success for a small nation BUT so have other Latino Nations with LESS people look at URUGUAY they have 4 MILLION and won the world cup TWICE but in all reality doesn't make or break a nation in sports Look at China and India how many sports figures can you name from there??????? the only one i can think of is yao ming and he's mediocore to say the least

Also Dominicans have had the best Ball players but they don't say we have the best per capita for such a small nation over and over again

Man, I signed up here to discuss boxing and I could not believe what I was reading the first few days. "Dirty Welfare Island ****" etc etc Naturally I am going to research Mexican welfare in the USA and speak on it. Like I said before, I could have taken the high road, but I felt compelled to speak on some facts and stats that were being left out of the equation. Other than that, I would never have a need to call someone a mongoloid, without first being called an Island rat or a monkey. It's funny cause I am not even on the darker end of the spectrum, but I love my people and therefore it was personal.

In DR they live and breathe baseball. The kids there play with a broomstick and the practice hitting bottle caps. To them, hitting a baseball with a bat is nothing.

That was a great fight and the energy before the opening bell was out of this world. I watched that fight in a room full of "neutral" Paraguayans but yeah man, that was a GREAT fight. I give props to Vargas for being a kid in that ring fighting as well as he fought and never once thinking of quitting.
