Old double R Ryan Rhodes huh. Problem with them handing him the WBC strap so early just so they can start to cash in on him is that he will now have to fight real fighters, right? Wrong, get ready for the doule R tour

Arum has nothing to do with this PPV. Canelo is a Golden Boy fighter, he's not with Top Rank.

They don't even have an opponent secured yet. This fight is on PPV because HBO and Golden Boy believe that your people are so blindly nationalistic that you'll pay to see Alvarez no matter who he fights. They don't do the same with American and Rican prospects because I guess those guys don't take nuthugging and bias to quite the same level.

As fans, I think it's natural to dislike being asked to pay even more money just to see a paper champion fight a hand-picked opponent. As fans, I think it's natural to express disappointment when anything other than the very important fights are on PPV.

              1. I have to be born in Mexico to be nationalistic about a fighter from Mexico you ***ing mouthbreather.

              2. For all the complaining about the popularity of boxing that I see daily on thei message board why in the ***ing world would anyone on this board complain or be offended by the popularity of a boxer???? Boxing isn't gonna capture the imagination of the public ever again till ****** knownothing hardcore boxing fans realize that popular fighter make boxing more popular! Seriously who cares who buys the ***ing PPV? If it helps boxing isn't that what matters? You don't have buy the PPV but if it sells I fail to see how this is a bad thing for boxing?

              3. You don't see promoters doing this with American and Rican prospects because nobody gives a *** about them. I really don't have to give anymore of an explination.

who said - when is he going to fight a legit opponent? - Rhodes is definitely a legit opponent. Is he a marquee name like Cotto or Angulo, no, but he is a legit top 10 contender.

That being said, how is this a PPV fight? If a promoter wants to do an independent PPV, I have no problem with that, but why would HBO make this a PPV fight - that's ridiculous
