Yes. Tarver is better to me because of his perspective. He has much more insight as to what's going on in the ring. Merchant offers fan like points of view, tarver breaks down what's going on and what each fighter needs to do, not to mention the thoughts going through the fighters heads. Tarver is an excellent commentator to me. Larry is really a third wheel.Comment

I voted for Roy Jones even though he's my second favorite on that list because ,imo he has the most boxing knowledge coupled with an entertaining way of conveying that knowledge.
Having said that, my favorite is Larry because he is a crusty ol' **** that doesn't take any **** from dumbass fans tryin' to get their face in front of the camera. He'll tighten em' right the **** up and I've seen him do it. Larry Merchant rules!!Comment

I really can't believe RJJ is on top of this poll. Max kellerman looks like he could replace Larry Merchant, he knows A LOT and doesnt ramble on for days.Comment

I find it difficult to believe anyone would actually have that opinion.
I agree.
And I like him because he's fair and balanced in his comments.
In contrast to Al Bernstein who doesn't seem to like boxers from outside the USA (he's been biased against Pascal, Calzaghe, Froch, Darchinyan, etc).Comment

Kellerman is trash.
Merchant gets a pass for being a prick because there is an instant identifiability/familarity with him; even if you've never seen him before, you feel like you have. Kellerman is just a nonentity with a motor-mouth and I really hope something happens to get him off HBO.Comment

Yes, and HBO's ratings would improve if they replaced Kellerman with someone better like John Skully.Kellerman is trash.
