as garbage as tarver was and as unprepared as pavlik and pascal was, none of them were in any danger of being ko'd by hopkins imo....

Tarver was the Light Heavyweight champion at the time When Bhop moved up from Middleweight. Tarver was the favorite in that fight as well. You said that Hopkins didn't hurt or stagger anyone in 10 years and I gave you two examples of him doing so and now you want to say that both the guys he fought was garbage and unprepared? Pavlik was an undefeated fighter. Eventhough he had to move up. It is still a good win because Hop beat the young Pavlik around the ring. Hopkins was an underdog in that fight as well and people actually thought Pavlik would be the first man to knock Bernard Hopkins out. You need to stop throwing salt.

Whether Hickey is right or not he's entitled to his opinion. MY opinion is that Hopkins was very ****** to make these remarks to the press, not once, but TWICE.

If it should just happen that Hopkins DOES kill Pascal in the ring, I'd venture an opinion that he could be charged with AT LEAST manslaughter, or maybe 2nd degree murder, since a fighter's fists are regarded as LETHAL weapons in law, and he actually made the plain statement.

Whether he would be found guilty of that or a lesser charge would depend on his lawyer and the Judge. He might even be found not guilty but I wouldn't bet money on it.

Of course Hopkins is such an ignorant, coarse clown that it might be normal for him to speak like that, but I've never heard him make this threat before.

I wouldn't sleep on Hop. He is the type to look really dodgey one moment then the next, he is totally dominating. Bernard figured out Pascal and had him on the run. I think this time Hopkins beat this kid up. I just got a gut feeling about it. Pascal is a weak fighter heart wise. All Hopkins has to do is walk Pascal down and hit him with combinations and go to the body. Pascal knocked Bernard down twice and still couldn't finish him off. I think Hops goes in more confident then the first time and puts on a clinic. I could be wrong but that's what how I'm feeling.

I don't disagree with you Grus. That's why I said I don't think Hopkins will do anything different then he did the first fight. Bernard's not gonna change now & he's too much of a veteran to let Pascals antics throw him off his game. I think Bernard will just do what Bernard has always done and did in the first fight with Pascal, and continue to walk him down and just wait for Jean to tire out like he did in the first fight. Plus, Hopkins knows what Pascals got and will adjust to any possible mistakes he might have made in the first fight. I think Pascal is more shook then Hopkins is and it will affect Jean much more during the fight then Bernard. The most I see Bernard doing differently in this fight is maybe starting earlier and probably put more effort in to stealing the end of the rounds. Hopkins is too careful to risk "killing" anyone in a fight - only if he has his man already hurt could I see him really going for the "kill".

The only thing I see might happen, as I said before, is that it may be a dirtier fight then the first go round. I was actually quite surprised how few dirty tactics there were in the first fight. It seems like when it's real personal that Hopkins usually pulls out the ole tricks from his dirty laundry bag. And, it's definately personal now.

Check out his fight with Branco. One of the most blatantly dirty fights I've ever seen.

Branco eventually quit by falling down and pretending to have suffered a low blow. Ref wasn't buying it.

If Bhop gets dirty, so will Pascal, and we could end up with a Tyson-esque ear biting incident (or something similar).

Oh, I agree. I woudn't even be surprised if Pascal throws the first foul, but Hopkins is a pro at those kind of tactics and won't want to be out done lol. I wouldn't even be surprised (although would be disappointing) if Hopkins over acts (literally) to some degree like he did against Jones. I hope he doesn't do it though (act) because his "show" during the second Jones fight was just embarrasing...

i as well have never heard hopkins speak like he has been the last few days, i can't recall a time where i've ever heard him say a cuss word in an interview or even at a press conference. i know i'm not up close and he could've all along, but not like this, he's fired up and really focused.

as for getting arrested if a fighter died after saying such things as hopkins did, they basically sign their life away before they step into the ring any way, all fighters know there is a risk of death stepping into the ring.

no matter if someone say so, both fighters signed waivers, it's sanctioned fighting, and that is why there are refs and doctors, no one is going to let someone die, and if so, they the organizations would be held in question.

the only way hopkins or a fighter would be in any trouble for their opponent dying would be because of foul play, ie. loaded gloves, drugging, etc, too many to list, but you get the point.

mayorga always talks about his opponents families going to their funeral after he's done with them, if he happened to kill a guy, nothing would happen, they have signed the death waiver, mmuuuhhhuuuuhhahha........
