Hamed never fought as a senior in the amateurs, but he won everything in the juniors at national level and I think he won the European Cup in the juniors but I'm not sure. Hamed only had a handful of losses in the amateurs and I think his handful of losses were mostly the final of European junior tournaments. So he had a good amateur pedigree and was well known before he even turned pro, he was in the news all the time in Sheffield before he even turned pro and kept promising everybody that he was going to be "greater than Muhammad Ali".
