why don't people follow the lower weight classes?

I never got this. Some say because there's no ko's. But theres plenty of exciting punchers like giovanni around who is one of the top 5 most exciting fighters.. Just look at the 118 division

I never understood that either. It seems like the most "fan friendly" exciting fights are in the these lower divisions but you will never see a PPV star come from them...maybe its the fault of the promoters not selling these guys well enough

A lot of the lower weight-class fights aren't televised

        1. Usually never televised (at least not in the states)

        2. Mostly international names and faces (to people not used to this, unfortunately they blend in)

        3. Lack of KO's...casual fans are turned off

Showtime, the only network interested in creating great fighters, needs to tourny up these lower weight classes and create some stars like they've done for 118 and 168.

Because the majority of people in America are overweight and watching some 118 pounder fight is like watching kids fight.

I do follow all weight classes, but I think casual fans dont care for them because a lot of average people could beat some of those guys up.

I'm not knocking their skills or what they do, and even the littlest of guys can pack a huge ass punch, but bigger, stronger guys fighting is more of what I like personally.

I mostly have a problem with them because there are just to many divisions, talent is too spaced out. I mean, there are only 3 lbs dividing each class from another. geez.

I think the 3lb thing is a bit of a joke. The lower weight divisions need simplifying.
