The fight sounds scary but realistically anybody with a nice jab and a good chin has a chance against Maidana. Whether or not Morales can gut out a victory is going to depend on his conditioning at this weight class. I can almost guarantee he won't look slow against Maidana.
It's kind of nostalgic of the first Pacquiao fight. Here you have Maidana who is making all these waves, much like Manny was, and Morales could very well outclass him with technique. He's not chinny like Khan and he won't run the whole fight because he'll burn through his conditioning. And running constantly only keeps the other guy coming at you, increasing his momentum. It's going to be an interesting fight. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Morales outbox him. Then again, wouldn't be surprised at all to see Maidana bulldoze him. I just know I'll be watching.
For most of his career, Morales fought at weights where he was uncommonly tall and long. Even when he moved up in weight, he tended to go up against guys much shorter than him. Pacquiao is a good example.
Now he is fighting at 140. He has none of those advantages. This won't look anything like Morales-Pacquiao 1. Not only is that Morales gone for good, but Maidana is basically the same height as Morales. He won't be able to win this fight with his jab/reach.
He looks in great shape tbh. Morales has more balls than any other boxer EVER
I love Erik, but his speed and reflexes are gone. He isnt going to win a firefight with a really hard puncher at his advanced age. God love the man, but this fight is a really, really bad idea.
