People don't like blood tests. You may not see the big deal, but some people do not like having blood taken. This is an issue in every sport, not just boxing, because while many athletes are obviously on PEDs, there are plenty who are clean but just don't like having blood taken. In a sport like boxing, where machismo plays a part more than maybe any other sport, asking for blood tests after the contract is signed is looked at as an insult.

it's pretty absurd to demand something after the fight is signed, especially in the manner pascal was going about, acting like a school kid.

Well then they should get out of boxing. You know, where they get blood tested for EVERYTHING but PEDs. Seems people have a special issue with that particular blood test.

I agree. Don't know what he was thinking. But I don't see why that's an issue. A lot of requests and changes/*********s are made to agreements after they're signed. If both fighters agree then it's no problem.

Who cares? Sorry, hate to clash heads, but who cares about whether someone likes taking a blood test or not? Who cares about pride when it pertains to that? What's there to be prideful about, not taking a test? Just accept it and keep it moving, it ain't that serious. You guys make it sound like a bombing mission!!

Yup, that's the stance of the MLB, NFL, and NBA's players' associations- no invasive testing involving needles/blood-drawing. That's why USADA funded a urine test for HGH which is in development right now (can detect the substance for up to 14 days in a person's system). Also didn't help that the current blood test is completely useless and hasn't had a single Olympic athlete fail, which is odd to say the least.

I mean, I'm not going to get pissed about someone disagreeing with how I feel about it but some people treat it very seriously. If you dominate a fight, get a draw in that fight, sign a rematch, and then after the contracts are signed are asked to take steroid tests, well that sounds like an insult to me. Some people will get really pissed, some won't.

I feel the same way about Pascal demanding these tests as I feel about Mayweather demanding Pacquiao and Povetkin demanding Wlad take them. If you are consistent about it, I won't have a problem and I'll feel you are trying to clean up the sport. But I don't think any of these guys are trying to clean up the sport, they are just making things difficult.
