i like the broadcasts.. max can be negative, but i see why he does it..
hes a fan before a broadcaster.. he wants the ppl and casual fans to know the deal, and the reality of things. i didnt like how he was saying gamboa doesnt sell tickets.. but he knows the sport much more so than lampley. jones its a good commentator also.. love his broadcasts.. get rid of lampley, and merchant and ull have a stellar cast

Max loves the sport, he says things most of us are thinking.....but that is not the way to approach a broadcasting fight. Which other sport has a commentary team that constantly craps on it during a broadcast?
        Yep!... you got it.

Really? I'm a huge fan of HBO, I like them way better than Showtime. They put stuff together organized and their production value is amazing. Showtime commentators bore me to sleep, atleast Lampley puts some emotion into it. Kellerman is the worst of the bunch but he's also the most "real" one of the bunch. By that I mean Kellerman is one of those guys who speaks his mind, sure he sounds like a retard most of the time but the guy knows what he's talking about. I'd love it if they had George Foreman or Lewis back on the table. Those guys were amazing.

          Just my opinion.

As far as production and the overall feel of the fights go, HBO is leagues ahead of Showtime.

Showtime looks cheap and crappy to me, not saying they don't put on great fights but they really need to step it up.

So HBO should have a resident troll?

I think in some ways you are right, but the SHOBOX broadcasts are a way lesser budget (slightly more than Friday Night Fights) than the Showtime Championship Boxing broadcasts. Overall Showtime picture quality seems less to me, and their graphics do have a cheaper look to them.

I love listening to the british commentary team. They are spot on. U can listen to their commentary and visualize what's going on in the fight.

I hope it stays about even, because although Showtime puts on a better show, HBO has all the money to through around and atleast will keep things competitive.

Kellerman is the spokesman for NSB. The constant b1tching, blatant nuthugging, and str8 negativity deployed in NSB is epitomized in Kellerman's commentary.

The HBO crew is annoying though, I won't deny it. They're always talking about **** that is completely inconsequential to the fight at hand.

I liked showtime's commentary during Cotto-Mayo, as it was entertaining, but I still wouldn't favor them over HBO. I simply love Lampleys emotional connection to the sport through his commentary. I enjoy Steward's insight, even if he always sounds like a smart as.s..."I knew exactly what would happen"

And Larry may be grumpy, and annoying at times, but he's still funny to listen to, and I couldn't imagine HBO without him.

Roy and Tarver though are great for both networks. They're articulate, and highly knowledgeable of the sport, as well as entertaining to listen to.
