You are only as good as your last fight.

Gamboa is clearly the best at 126 and a top 5 fighter in the sport (Pacquiao is going down).
Pirog is a fraud and a joke. He's not even close to a top 10 Middleweight.
Lara has no chance at becoming an elite fighter. He was exposed as a tomato can.

That is how the boxing world works, it is not just here~

It is a foolish way to look at things though and plays a big part in why I don't listen to what most have to say on the sport.

That said there is a reason for it, guys fade in the blink of an eye in this sport so if you don't pay close attention to recent fights your eye is not really on the ball.

The boxing world sort-of works that way but not to the extreme that many here make it. If you are an entertaining fan-friendly fighter and/or you have the right manager and promoter you will get multiple chances for redemption. Mosley looked bad against Mora and was clearly outclassed by Mayweather and look at the fight he's got. Rocky Juarez has done nothing forever and we still see him. Margarito got destroyed by Mosley after being caught loading his gloves, he then gets stomped by Pacquiao, where is he now? About to get a big money rematch with Cotto.

I agree, it's just crazy how people overreact (myself included).

Sure Gamboa looked great, but we've all seen him look clearly not as good as he looked tonight in previous fights.

Pirog didn't get a stoppage. So what? Is he supposed to have every fight look like the Jacobs KO?

Lara looked pretty bad but we've all seen him look good. Does that mean he's a fraud and a joke? No, it means he didn't look good against Molina.

Yea, that is a lazy way of looking at it because that is only looking at the surface and not really into what is going on.

definitely true. especially after KO's. Donaire jumped all the way to #2 or #3 on many p4p lists after the montiel fight, Martinez jumps a head of Donaire after KO'ing the 154 pounder.

Totally true. You forgot how Mike García utterly destroys everyone in his weight class.
