Comments Thread For: Ryan Rhodes: Canelo Has Flaws, I Can Hurt Him and Win

British boxer Ryan Rhodes (45-4, 31KOs) is ready to upset the odds by claiming the WBC's junior middleweight title. A few days ago, the WBC appointed Rhodes as the mandatory challenger to the title owned by Mexico's Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (36-0, 26KOs). Alvarez won the vacant title earlier this month with a twelve round unanimous decision over a close friend of Rhodes, Matthew Hatton.

If Rhodes keep on talking like this, the fight may not happen at all. GBP will protect their cash cow from loosing

If GBP backs out, Canelo will lose his belt. At this point, Canelo is a paper champion anyway. If he fights and beat Rhodes, he will have earned the right to be the belt holder. I think Rhodes will give a good account of himself but if it is close, being in Mexico and all, Alvarez will get the decision. Rhodes will need to clearly win 8 rounds to get a draw. This is a good fight and I hope HBO picks it up because although I want to see it, I won't buy some crappy PPV...

Canelo will have to show something different here.

He walked through Baldomir and the Matt Hatton. He'll get KO'd if he throws defense out the window against Rhodes.

I think Canelo's competition up to this point has been good for a 20-year-old kid. Should he have a world title, well, no. Silly stage management, imo. Now he is facing Ryan Rhodes who could old man him in there, and whom I expect to do so.
