According to ESPN, 42-year-old ring legend Roy Jones Jr. will take a very dangerous fight against WBO #1 cruiserweight Denis Lebedev (21-1, 16 KOs) on May 22 in Lebedev’s native Russia. Official announcement to come.


Didn't see a link and I'm not sure if they mentioned it on FNF.

What do think of this matchup? Does Roy need some money? I've never seen Lebedev fight though, so is Roy going to get destroyed or is this a fight he can win on points (remember it's in Russia..)

roy doesnt need money. and even if he did he wouldnt have to fight, he has plenty of buisnesses going on in pensacola not to mention plenty of connections in the music industry and a big name worldwide.

he just likes to fight, simple as that. roy jones loves boxing and isnt willing to stop even if it means compromising his legacy and his health.

lebedev isnt a great fighter, but hes much better than roy at this point. hes a big puncher too and a much bigger man than roy. roy cant win a decision cuz he cant fight consistantly for 12 rounds and his legs not to mention his reflexes are shot. lebedev will walk him down and take him out.

lebedev will knock him out, no doubt about that. i just hope he doesnt knock roy out cold.

It's getting really sad at this point. Who the hell is advising him? What does he gain from getting possible permanent damage? He doesn't need to fight, why not just sign a long term contract with HBO to do broadcasting, I'm sure they'd love to have him on the core team.

Someone needs to sit him down, show him the tapes of his last few fights (especially Danny ****ing Green 1st round KO) and have a heart-to-heart with him about reality. He's got to come to terms with the fact that he's completely washed up and shot sooner rather than later.
