it's a broad brush and perhaps an over-generalization, but it oftens happen enough that i think your statement has merit.
Why do Cubans get lazy when they come to America?

I'm not sure I agree with your last observation. Gamboa is surprisingly focused, and very ambitious.gamboa is a prime example.
He has not beaten anybody of note yet....
but he's already driving a lambo.
HOw can you have the hunger, & determination to have a great career when you are already driving lamborghinis before beating anybody worthy?
i like gamboa but he absolutely has ZERO chance to be a great fighter with a great career.
The part about the Lambo makes a good point. The average person that will ever live will never even touch one, let alone own(?) one. This kid, Gamboa, gets here (USA) only a few years ago and is already gorging himself in excess. When things come that easily, nothing good can come of it. Easy come, easy go....Comment

the kid fought the wrong fight, he thought he was some kind of puncher looking for one shot. Cubans cant handle freedom? i'm Cuban and i handle it just fine, but food for thought, just think if you were from a place where the standered of living was way below anything you can think of, a place were doctors make $10 dollars monthly and all of a sudden you are off of the island with freedom to make your own choises and then have all these boxing people throwing money at you for something you used to do for free. I'm sure you could handle it no problem right?Comment

i like gamboa & i hope he beats juan ma but how can he live like a king & champion already when he hasnt done nothing yet.I'm not sure I agree with your last observation. Gamboa is surprisingly focused, and very ambitious.

With the exception of floyd, NOBODY in the top 10 p4p drives lamborghinis.Comment

Couldn't agree more. Green K.Well, it's not exactly laziness, as I see it.
I don't think they acclimate well in some cases. Several reasons.
1. They are so amateur-friendly, that the professional ranks can really shock them. They are training in an amateur manner for 20+ years in some cases. It's hard to simply break out of that.
2. It's hard for them to get used to the culture shock. All of the freedom, fans, females and money can get to them. They come from nothing but a restricted lifestyle and have to bare this until they get here. It's obvious as to why some of these fighters can't handle it.
3. The new trainers have to rework a lot of things and sometimes the matches simply don't work. It takes a while. In some cases, they are simply restarting their entire careers.
I think that Lara needs to keep at it and focus. This was a close one. Luckily for him, he has all the tools to succeed.
The Cubans that survive will be stars. They obviously have the physical talent to stand out.Comment

If he likes that life, he'd better stay focused. Living like that takes a lot more money than people imagine. That's why guys like Mike Tyson, the most successful professional fighter ever, wind up broke.Comment

I hope Solis whips Gamboa's overhyped ass tommorrow. Tired of watching these Cuban fighters who are all sizzle and no steak.Comment
