Joe would have absolutely destroyed Pavlik, but fighting Jones was where the money was.

Exactly dude ducked out of a hopkins rematch to fight a washed up jones, instead of fighting a young gun p4p fighter in Pavlik. Calz was strait ***** which is why no one respects him other than the british, and his fanboys.

Say that to enzo calz dude was making excuse after excuse not to fight pavlik, its on youtube if im correct. Calzaghe DUCKED Pavlik, trhats a fact. They left hopkins as the sacrificial lamb against him and we all saw what happened. Thats why hopkins>calzaghe and they shouldnt even be mentioned in the same breath

For all the retrospective views on Pavlik, let's not forget that it's one of the best wins of B-Hop's career.

joe came in after the golden era for british and Irish super middles so he missed out on Benn, Eubank (prime) Collins etc. He may well have beaten them all but fact is he didn't. After he beat an over the hill Eubank he fought nobody of worth for years. Until his biggest challenge at that stage Jeff Lacey ... Joe got his most convinging and best win then though in Hindsight Lacey appears to have been a hypejob. After that he got lucky against Bika who nearly had him in the 12th. Then finally after years of mutual ducking and dodging he finally squared up to an old Hopkins and prime Cal V old Hopkins was a pretty even affair. He then dodged Pavlik ansd fought some dude who used to be Roy Jones and retired undefeated having flat out refused to give Hopkins the rematch he deserved.

He got a good win against Kessler and credit for that he was decent but not better than prime hopkins or jones ...

Was the money differential between fighting RJJ and Pavlik that great, really? Let's not forget HBO were riding KP at the time, and it would have been a big fight.

At the time, Pavlik was a much, much riskier fight. Let's not talk respectively now we have seen Kelly's career nosedive - at the time, Calzaghe didn't want any of it. It was a duck.

Would he have beaten him? Yes.

But was it a duck? Yes.

Had the fight came off, you would have witnessed a sort of "boxing ****" with Pavlik as the victim
