Tarver would have lost by the time Calzaghe moved up to 175. Gaining and losing all that weight took a lot out of him. It basically turned him old overnight, just like Roy. Calzaghe would have been to fresh for him.

That said, I really don't think Tarver ducked him.

the only argument you can make for anybody avoiding calzaghe was earlier on his career when prime hopkins and jones didn't go out of their way to fight him. But even that argument is tenuous at best. He wasn't really known in the states and why fight some guy who's hardly known at all when they could get almost as much money from fighting the manditorys. Anyway Calzaghe didn't exactly fall over himself to hunt them down. As for tarver ducking him lol just lol
