What? The Tommy Z fight was on the televised Showtime undercard.

Tommy Z fought on the undercard of Cotto vs. Mayorga and it was televised as the opening bout when Christy Martin withdrew. He is also fighting on Saturday on the untelevised portion of the HBO card. It's highlights from his fight this Saturday that will be shown on HBO before Gamboa vs. Solis. Plus he now has Emanuel Steward in his corner so that adds some intrigue, but how much can Steward really teach Tommy Z in two weeks? Unless Steward has been training him earlier but didn't work his corner to concentrate on the Cotto fight...

See, it's true that all of America's good heavyweights are in the NFL.

Oh ok I thought they were showing the Showtime fight which didn't make any sense. I'm posting while at work so I didn't read the whole article.

They are showing highlights from his fight this saturday on hbo's un-televised undercard, not his fight on the march 12th showtime ppv.

Edit: nevermind sluggerfan answered the question.

The Racket squad: Reality Check Please

So Tommy Z is going to get an HBO mention?
There are pros out there who have devoted their lives to this 'sport' and cannot get a five second ESPN name drop.
But an NFL dude with no record to speak of is jumping to the front of the line.
And let's not forget that this is the same network that called 'Canelo' a prodigy.
By the way, HBO has a bridge in Brooklyn they would love to sell you as well.

HBO and the WWE have alot in common these days.
The Morales PPV would draw better numbers if Erik were fighting one of the 'Jersey Shore' schmucks.
                Or Tommy Z.

                Enough Said.

^ Tommy Z has been boxing as long as he played football, just didn't go pro for a long time. Also there are not many HW's that " devoted " their lives to boxing

Did you even see his fight? Tommy Z is hot garbage.

interesting to finally see tommy z with steward, they met each other since tommy was a kid and he was actually into boxing first before football. he is fighting at cruiser weight ,less than 200 lbs, even though he fought fat boy at hw, but if he sticks with steward and nfl still keeps crying bout 9 billion he could make a little wave. he was training a lil in the cotto camp with steward couple weeks ago at top rank gym.i dont think he could make a title run though, but with more experience and steward in the corner and as weak as the hw division is he could do nicely, plus i think nfl will get their act together to get a agreement to have a nfl season
