    IBF Welterweight Champion Jan Zaveck

How do you guys regard IBF Champion Jan Zaveck? (refrain from the knee jerk NSB response: "yo, he's a typical overprotected Euro bum)....

I haven't seen alot from this guy but in his last fight, albeit against C-level fighter Paul Delgado, he looked pretty solid to me. He boxed well, and punished the challenger from pillar-to-post for 5 hellish rounds. Basically a fighter that I'd like to see again and against a better opponent.

He's fought exclusively in Europe but from what I've read (here on Boxingscene) he wants to come to the States to make a name for himself. I wouldn't mind seeing the guy on an HBO or Showtime undercard fight and whoever he fights I think it's an entertaining fight. So what do you think of Zaveck? And also, would you support a Berto-Zaveck fight?

He is pretty good and exciting, the 1 fight he lost was really a hometown decision that he won but avenged the paper loss anyway.

Him vs Berto is a pick'm fight right now I would say.

Never seen him fight. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action against Berto.

        Berto by UD.

Dejan has a solid chin and is a decent puncher, but Berto is way too fast. Im not saying ti would be an easy night for Andre, but he'd **** Dejan up.

As I posted the other day, Zavec is looking to fight in the USA in June or July and the names he mentioned were Mike Jones, Paul Malignaggi, Andre Berto, and Miguel Cotto. Paulie and Andre both have fights coming up and Cotto is staying at 154, so that leaves Mike Jones.

Personally I think Zavec-Jones would be a great fight and hope it can somehow get made. Andre Berto previously told HBO he wanted to unify the titles and fight Zavec or Senchenko, and HBO turned him down, but then again Richard Schaffer said a while back he was interested in throwing Canelo in against Senchenko or Zavec on HBO. So who knows?

Zavec won his belt by KO in the champs back yard, and then avenged his only loss all within a year. I am Slovene-American and of course support Zavec, but I'm not some nuthugger trying to say he's an ATG or anything. He's a solid B-list fighter who's representing his country well, and the amount of disrespect he gets here simply because he's European is ridiculous.
