Green-Mundine is set!!
By Ray Wheatley -- World of Boxing
Australia's world ranked super middleweights Danny Green (20-2) and Anthony Mundine (24-3) have finally agreed to fight and this bout will be held between February and April in 2006. Green is a former WBC interim 168 pound titleholder, Mundine is former WBA super middleweight champion. The manager of Green, Justin Manolikos, said "It's a done deal. We have contracts in place and they are signed." Both Green and Mundine will have a warm up bout on the same card at the Challenge Stadium in Perth, WA, Australia on December 11th. They must win their fights for the Mundine-Green bout to go ahead. Both fights will be co-promoted by Green Machine Promotions and Tony Mundine Sr. The fight is predicted to break the existing live gate record which is currently held by the Azumah Nelson vs Jeff Fenech WBC jir lightweight bout which was contested on March 1st, 1992 and attracted a live gate of 37,000 fight fans. Mundine has beeen installed as a betting favorite but it will be Green who will the favorite of the majority of Australian fight fans.
The winner could fight Lacy, or the winner of Lacy-Calzaghe, if that fight comes off. I believe Beyer would lose to Green if they fought again, but Beyer is probably top 5 at 168 also.
