Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez on The Vargas Win, Waits on Segura

Last Saturday night in Puebla City, Mexico, Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez had trouble in his first defense of the WBA junior flyweight title against Mexico's Manuel "Chango" Vargas, a former world champion. Gonzalez punished him in the early rounds but couldn't put him away. Gonzalez had a lot of trouble adjusting to the climate of Puebla.

Win, lose, or draw, Segura is moving up after Calderon. I wouldn't be surprised if Segura doesn't even make weight for the Calderon fight! Either way, if Gonzalez really wants the fight, he'll move up to 112 lbs.

A Roman Gonzalez-Gio Segura fight has the mekings of Carbajal vs Gonzalez more than 20 years ago. Is the best fight that can be made in those weights and HBO/Showtime should pay attention to these two. I can't wait!!
