MANNY PACQUIAO: A GREAT STYLE, BUT NOT A GREAT FIGHTER

    By Jeff Mayweather

When I look at Manny Pacquiao I see a fighter who comes to fight and gives 100% each time out. He gives the fans what they want to see and the guy can punch. His style is great, but overall I have never considered him a great fighter. He gets the job done with what he has, which is pressure and power, but I have never been caught up with him like other people have.

In a lot of ways he reminds me of Welterweight Champion Zab Judah, in that they are both wild and reckless. Pacquiao simply isn't technically sound as some would like to believe. I have always thought his speed was overrated and his defense has been a problem for him as well. He can give it and take it, but when he stepped to the plate against Erik Morales last March we saw many of his flaws exposed. In Morales he met a fighter with a good chin and enough skills to throw him off of his game and come away with the win.

I wasn't terribly surprised by the outcome of the first Morales-Pacquiao fight, but I was surprised by how much Morales had left in his tank. Erik showed that the wars with Barrera hadn't taken their toll completely on of him and for that reason I feel he will defeat Pacquiao if they ever meet again. I just don't think Pacquiao can make the type of adjustments that he needs against a world class fighter like Erik. He is very dangerous in the ring but the bottom line is that his style is repetitive and I see him coming up short against the best of the best.

With all that said I still do feel Pacquiao can have a nice career. I can only see his career being shortened if he continues to take unnecessary punishment like he did against Morales. Pacquiao brings the drama to the fight each time out and he punches with bad intentions. That alone will keep the fans tuning in for more.

I kinda agree jeff mayweather writes some good articles! He is right with zab and pacman they just seem to be highly aggressive figthers but with no technique just pure speed, power and tenacity.

What will happen when they get older and lose there speed?

Pacman is now very focused on Morales. He's at his prime right now and MOrales, I feel will lose in ta rematch. I think that if we're talkin bout ring damage, Morales might show that in ta rematch. Pac did punish him too last March. Raheem gave Morales a good beat up too and looked kinda sluggish. If sumone gotta worry bout ring damage it's Morales.

What does Pac give some of his fans to make them seem to brainwashed?

i think were just hype.hehe.but we have reasons.pacman are few filipino champions for now.(he has a belt right now..yehey)

the article are true.Pacman is not a great fighter overall.he lacks defense and technique.but i admire him for fighting morales using his style eventhough it's a suicide.fighting anyone.even for small money.just fighting.eventhough he has complaints but after that he's the one asking for rematch.(JMM do you reading this?).i adore fighters who fights..

When people talk about Pac not being a very skilled fighter and being exposed by fighters with more skill...

what are you guys trying to prove?

you are not telling us anything new...we all know Pacman is no Floyd Mayweather...

but what we DO know is that he is an intense fighter with a champion's heart...what more can you ask for?

someone like Joe C who ducks the big fights? Or Pacman while limited goes for the big ones and brings 100% with what he has win or lose?

who's saying this..of course.the level of floyd are way,way,way....too high for pac.

pacman only proves that boxers are meant to fight.nothing else..that's all.
