For those of you bashing Martinez's resume

How many elite fighters has Sergio had the opportunity to fight at or around his weight class? Both Floyd and Manny haven't fought elite guys at or around their weight classes, such as Cotto for Floyd and Bradley for Pac. Has Sergio ducked elite fighters? Flloyd, Cotto, and Pac want nothing to do with Martinez. So what elite fighter can Martinez fight to prove himself. Guys around his weight class like Pirog, Kirkland, Lee, etc. won't give Sergio elite notoriety. It's funny how people never mention loses when discussing a fighters resume. Sergio lost to Margarito, who is a proven cheater earlier in his career, and his lone other loss is to Paul Williams in a fight that many, including myself thought he won. Meanwhile, Pacquiao has been KO'd by 2 bums early in his career, it's funny how this is discounted.

You consider Bradley an "Elite" fighter in conjunction with Pacquiao not fighting him?

I don't hate Sergio's resume, It's just not better than Pac, Floyd, Hopkins, Cotto and maybe Nonito.

No, at this stage I think Tim has established himself as an elite fighter period.

no one's purposely bashing his resume. it gets bashed when some pac or floyd haters considers his resume up to par w/ them.

At the same time, has Sergio had the opportunity to fight the level of opponents those guys have fought?

SERGIO MARTINEZ IS WINNING! Inside and Outside of the ring, don't let a few clueless idiots on a Boxing Forum influence you to make you think that everybody hates Martinez because he is calling out Manny and Mayweather

People will try to DOWNGRADE Martinez because they KNOW he is a threat to Pacquiao as well as Mayweather, so now since he is calling them out...ESPECIALLY Pacquiao! Now people "HATE HIM" and will try to call him "OVERRATED" or "He should move to 168 (a good way to get rid of him so Manny won't have to fight him I guess)" "He should fight Ward or Froch or Bute"

but most of the excuses I see are coming from Pacquiao fans...THE SAME PACQUIAO FANS who was talking **** about Mayweather and how "Mayweather Would Never Fight Martinez" so a few months ago Sergio Martinez wasn't "too big for Mayweather" now all of a sudden "Martinez is "Too Big" for Pacquiao AND Mayweather" hahaha

                    This^

I think if Sergio wasn't so obsessed about being on top of the mythical p4p rankings, he wouldn't get so much flak.
