Comments Thread For: Shaw: Martinez vs Angulo, The Fight is Not Even Close

BoxingScene.com was advised by Gary Shaw, promoter of junior middleweight Alfredo Angulo, that deal to fight Sergio Martinez on July 9 in Mexico is "not even close." The two sides have discussed a possible meeting but they are "too far apart on the money," according to Shaw.

Angulo should try and get the gig as the new Aflac spokesman.

Should have taken the $750,000 when you had a chance, huh, Shaw?

Angulo deserves substantially less then that anyway and his stock has dropped and Martinez has to travel to Mexico.

Why are you directing that at Shaw? Angulo was the one that turned it down. If I remember correctly, even Shaw thought it was dumb of Angulo to do so.

Correct. Shaw was pissed at Angulo for the blatant duck.

Angulo is probably asking for 1.4 mil this time around. He sees double the risk.

              Quack.

I'm glad it's at least being discussed. Fan friendly fight.

                  I stand corrected.

Angulo is a dummy for having turned that money down.

From what I remember (first negotiations b/t Angulo and Martinez) there were issues with the money being split among Angulos team members.. Not enough $$ to go around (specifically to Angulo). Not sure though.. Eaner brought it up at some point.
