Comments Thread For: Solis' Right Knee Issue Was Pre-Existing To Klitschko Fall

There is a lot controversy in Germany with respect to Saturday night's heavyweight bout, which saw WBC champion Vitali Klitschko stop Odlanier Solis in one round. After landing a right hand on Solis, the 2004 Olympic gold medal winner lost his footing and fell backwards. During the fall Solis injured his right knee. He was unable to continue any futher and the fight was stopped. A subsequent examination at Cologne's University Hospital revealed that he had torn his cruciate ligament and damaged cartilage in the fall.

Solis wanted the big paycheque, so they were quiet about the injury.

But did the fans who paid to go to the fight get cheated?

I read somewhere else that Odlanier won't be fighting again for at least a year, as the injury needs time to heal.

Vitali deserves credit for being the ultimate professional and respecting the sport. It doesnt diminish the victory at all, IMO, just the so-called superpunch.

Solis was moving haphazardly in the ring because he was in with Vitali Klitschko. He probably wouldnt have torn anything if he was with a fellow blob like Ray Austin.

In the same manner that Vitali "happened" to suffer shoulder injuries against one of his best opponents. Solis suffered the same against his best opponent. The stress and tension of the moment causes injuries like this. Solis just wasn't up to the challenge.

Solis can be in very big trouble

I dont know if he told the commision about the pre-existing injury, but it sounds like he injured it, hid it and still went along with the fight, pretty much robbing the people there

This is bad for Solis and bad for all 19K who paid to see a fight and ended up with a farce. I think some of his purse should be taken away and sent to some charity help, maybe someplace like Japan to help them. At least then the people who paid can at least feel a little better that there money went to a good cause, as opposed to a boxer and management team that deceived the public (and Epix TV who know have to be somewhat soured on boxing after this debacle)...

no right-thinking human being could think that grazing punch 2 the hair KO'd Solis.

either he was injured, or he threw the fight. the fact that sooooooo many ppl said it was a "vicious KO", or "KO of the Year' s a sad commentary on the state of humanity.
