Does anyone else think these extravagant entrances are silly?

I heard a commentator during the Bute fight say 'its like your opponent is ascending from Heaven'. I think he was spot on. Its just a waste of time i mean what is the point of this? I'm sure 99% of the fans couldn't care less about the entrance and just want to see a good fight.

Vitali's entrance lasted longer than the fight for Pete's sake.

I have also never understood why a band would play at a boxing event. Whenever i see a band playing before a big fight i and i think every other boxing fan is thinking 'hurry up and get the **** out of the arena so we can watch the fight'.

It kind of is a waste of time. But event organisers and all these peeps that think they know *what the target audience wants* are gonna say it's not.

You could look at it as having a psychological impact on the underdog but most of these guys have seen it all and won't really be impressed by flashing lights and a band.

I think entrances are very important, especially now that I'm a fighter myself. It's like the staredown before a fight ;-)

I think all the over-the-top stuff is kind of cool.

Makes you think you are at an event, and gets the crowd amped up.


The national anthems to me are the silly part.

i think it's gay. but canadian/european fans sure seem 2 enjoy them. no surprise there.
