Comments Thread For: Liam Walsh Knocks Jon Kays Out in Ten Rounds

At the Robin Park Centre in Wigan, Liam Walsh (11-0, 8KOs) retained his Commonwealth super featherweight title with a tenth round knockout of Jon Kays (13-2, 4KOs). Kays proved to be a tougher than expected opponent and did some good work in the middle rounds, but he started to fade as the fight dragged on. During the tenth round, Walsh landed a big hook to the body that sent Kays down to his knees. He was unable to beat the referee's count and the fight was waved off at 1:05.

Great effort by Kays, he could have knocked him down in the 8th if he had a bit more savy and spite in his punches. Respect to both guys for an entertaining and competitive fight, John Kays can now go and get married a very proud man. The division is red hot right now. Barry is right though, with only 11 fights Liam Walsh can't look forward to any easy nights with that commonwealth belt and everyone out there looking to relieve him of it.
