You should keep up to date - Haye and Wlad have signed to fight each other.

If Wladimir is not healthy enough by training time for the June-July Haye fight, Vitali is contractually obligated to take his place if necessary.

That's how I saw it.

But after watching the replay, I'm not too sure if he did beat the count.

IMHO, that is solely determined by refereeing interpretation, because of the split second timing between the count ending and the stoppage.

In many cases, a fighter will appear to beat the count, say up at 8-9, but has clearly not recovered, cannot defend himself, and is in no position to continue the fight..... in which case, a KO is correct.

Alternatively, often the TKO is a result of the bout continuing, but being quickly broken up by the referee after he can see that the fighter is done.

I dunno man, I'm gonna go with Invincible on this, it could go either way depending on referee interpretation as to whether he judged that Solis actually beat the count and was in a position to continue, or whether he determined that he was not in a position to continue the fight immediately after getting up off the deck.

Either is hard to argue against, and both could be argued as correct.

Vit gets a legit tko/ko either way.

Lol, Dave, I thought you had more sense than to talk to me that way. Either way, Solis was knocked out because of disorientation and the fact that he could not get his footing was a result of the punch impact and not just the supposed knee injury. Did he injure his knee? It appears that he did (he rolled his left ankle as well) but for one to sit there and look at that footage and not recognize that Solis was more than just injured on his knee has no business following this sport. He was clearly just out on his feet, legs rubber and if injury occured from that, it's irrelevant. He wasn't making the count even if he wasn't injured.

Aaah interesting, good point.

Yep, my first impression was a tko, it's just that the ref stopped counting at about 7, and stopped the fight before he would have reached 10, it was that quick.

To confuse matters, boxrec still lists a ko

I think a tko is probably more accurate.

As decided earlier, I am sticking with my first call, a tko..... but I think a ko can easily be justified as well.
