Golota was insane and approached boxing like a street fight, even though he was one of the better technical heavyweight boxers of recent times. He later said that he hit Bowe below the belt because "the son of a ***** wouldn't go down".
Bowe had become sloppy physically and technically by this time. The first Holyfield fight was his peak and it was all downhill from there, even with Eddie Futch trying his best to keep Bowe out of trouble.Last edited by TheGreatA; 03-19-2011, 09:19 AM.Comment

Lack of dedication. He had a ton of heart in the ring but outside it he never wanted to go through the training and conditioning. After beating Holyfield he thought he could walk through anybody by throwing wild right hands that more often than not missed their mark. It worked for a while but the signs of his detoriation were already there in previous bouts against Herbie Hide and Larry Donald. Golota completely schooled him if not for the low blows.

A prime Bowe would have put away Hide in 2 rounds.Comment

Bowe never could throw a straight right hand, one of his big weaknesses. With a solid 1-2 he would have been even more dangerous, but usually he followed up his jab with an overhand right that rarely landed cleanly. His uppercut was his most dangerous punch, but Golota nullified it.Comment

Whenever I think about either of those 2 fights, two thinks pop into my mind almost immediately.
The riot in the first fight.
