Comments Thread For: Cotto-Margarito II Details: Cintron To Fight, Barrera Too?

Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, is already working on the planned July 16 rematch between WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (36-2, 29KOs) of Puerto Rico, and his Mexican rival Antonio Margartio (38-7, 27KOs). In 2008, Margarito handed Cotto the first loss of his career with a stoppage victory in the eleventh round.

"No, I think that we've talked to some of the commissioners, and we feel that we'll be alright. And we'll get their assurances before we settle on Las Vegas as a site," Arum said.

Damn Margarito is going to have to take one hell of a beating if he wants to get the win. He already got hit 450 times by Pac. Cotto will hit him damn close 300 times prolly if it goes 12 rounds, win or lose. That is a god awful amount of punishment to be taking in an 8-10 month time.

Glad to see this fight is coming together. I hope Cotto shatters that cheating scum's orbital bone.

The rumors have it that Bob Arum was willing to put Marco Antonio Barrera in with Brandon Rios. But how much you wanna bet Barrera gets a soft touch on this PPV undercard to try and build a fight with Brandon Rios. All the while, Brandon Rios take some tune-up, crappy fight that Bob will set up for him and Brandon will start lose any momentum he gained from trashing Acosta? This is a classic reason why fighters leave Bob Arum. He get's them a big fight on the big stage, they perform, they he slinks them back down into obscurity. If Brandon fights Barrera at all, it should be on this card. Otherwise, it's all about the benjamins Bob will be in danger of losing another fighter down the road...

cotto's a fool for taking this fight....

margarito's gonna break him down exactly like their first meeting.... yes... even without the plaster wraps....

this cotto is a poor imitation of that cotto, and margarito ruined that cotto and left him a shell - so he'll be more than capable of taking him apart without having to cheat....

cotto's not strong enough to hold margarito off, and the pressure will tell.... it may well be cotto's last ever fight.

It sucks that it will be Vegas as I think the fight should have been on NY but it won't matter either way Cotto will give this cheater a boxing lesson. I also think the major fight Arum is talking about for Cintron is Bundrage for the IBF belt.
