Perfection.
Floyd Mayweather's Jab to the Body

No it isn't. There's a reason Mosley never landed that shot again. Floyd adjusted to it immediately. Mosley tried it again and Jr. blocked low and rolled the right.excellent, sneaky weapon. he dominated Corrales with it.
risky punch though, since if you throw the right hand as hes jabbing to the body you can catch him. still hard to do however, its really fast and usually set up very well.
interestingly enough, I find that jabbing to his body and coming up with a right hand to the head is one of Floyd's biggest weaknesses as well.Comment

The way i saw that fight was that in the early rounds, Judah tried to had Floyd tasted his own medicine by waiting and trying to timing his punches basically like a chess-match, and he caught Floyd perfectly coming in. Timing had more to do with it than speed IMO. Any Boxer with great timing and who's willing to be patient can catch him coming in, but he can be unpredictable with it.That jab to the body would one day get him into trouble against someone faster or someone with a ring intelligence, He was caught in the Judah fight because of that jab but he's very quick when he does it and he alway time it to perfection, but I reckon if he did that against someone who has quick handspeed then he would be in trouble.Comment

Its also a risky punch...you are completely open to a counter right. Being off balance while throwing it makes it worse. If you remember, Judah barely threw a punch...he kinda just put his right hand out and Floyd ran right into it, which caused him to be knocked down.Comment

It is a pretty risky move, most guys who try that catch back worse than they give it is only a move true craftsman should use and like any craftsman knowing when to use the proper tool is important as having that tool.
Although once again with Floyd it depends on the opponent he can use it as a change of pace to keep the other guy off balance or if that is the route to victory he can exploit it like that also. Or he can not do it at all and make a guy prepare for something that didn't even occurLast edited by The Gambler1981; 03-18-2011, 05:28 PM.Comment
