WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko (31-0, 20 KOs), 33, will conduct the third defense of the title in his hometown of Donetsk, Ukraine. Senchenko, who had been previously rumoured as Saul Alvarez's possible opponent, will take on WBA #11 Venezuelan Marco Antonio Avendano (30-7-1, 22 KOs) on an unspecified date under the guidance of Union Boxing Promotion. According to UBP's media services, the contract was signed on March 17. Avendano is best known for his two-fight rivalry with then WBA interim champion Nobuhiro Ishida and for his second-round kayo of formidable Argentinean Sebastian Andres Lujan.

Why has no one gone to the Ukraine to pick up this little piece of ***elry yet??? It should be easy pickings... It would have been nice to see Selcuk Aydin fight Senchenko and the winner come to America and fight... I honestly think this Aydin kid is being underrated.. He looks pretty good

The bigger question is, Avendano? WTF? Avendano is 36 years old, ranked 136th by boxrec and hasn't beaten anyone with a pulse in more than five years. Senchenko has had his "title" for two years and if this happens, he will have made three ridiculously ****ty title defenses during that time.
He and his title are an absolute joke and his "defenses" would make Erdei and Zbik blush

Senchenko makes even Berto's title 'reign' look good.

                  In terms of talent?
Because in terms of who they have "defended" against, Berto has defended against Luis Collazo, Juan Urango, Carlos Quintana and is about to fight Victor Ortiz.
Zaveck has fought two absolute no-hopers and a legitimate Jackiewicz.
Senchenko has held his "title" for two years and defended against world-renowned Motoko Sasaki, club-fighter Charlie Narvarro and now Avendano, who is ranked 136th in the world at welterweight by boxrec.

I like Zaveck more than Berto, but two of his three opponents have been waaaaayyyyyy worse than anybody Berto has fought since winning a belt. Senchenko has fought no one with a pulse.
