If only someone was there to tell Tarver the truth

am always giving credit where credit is due. I had to say the things I said in order to get my opportunity. The media and the politics have made Roy out to be what he is and so be it. When we are judged and compared, I want to be compared to the best. That is my statement to the boxing world. When you compare the two, you can’t put him above me. The bottom line for my legacy and my greatness, when it is all said and done is that I’m the best fighter in Florida right now.
    - Antonio Tarver

LOL...someone should be there on his ass, a true boxing historian to tell him no one would ever in their right mind put him above RJJ all-time. Tarver doesn't crack anyone's top 100 p4p all-time, not that I've seen. Going 1-1 with a faded great makes you better than him all-time?

    Great logic.

Tarver is the greatest fighter of all time. I dont understand what the fuss is about. He lost to the second greatest fighter of all time in Glen Johnson.

LOL...seriously though, man. Some reporter at this conference calls should be brave enough or smart enough to keep him in check. Tarver gets on his soap-box and when he's up there he's like a damn Preacher. He needs to sit one-on-one with a true boxing historian so he can get a reality check.

tarver is still relatively young though. He's got years ahead of him, and being at the top of his division, he can only fight the top competition. The possibilities are there that he can solidify his supposed greatness.

This comparable thing is laughable if it means what I think it does. That he actually bought into the hype surrounding his knockout victory over a weight drained, unprepared RJJ. He was on plenty of people's lists as a legitimate P4P #1 fighter and the only thing in defense of that: was the "You are the man if you beat the man" school of thought. I don't buy into that....accumulation of victories over solid opposition like Roy did outweighs a single victory given the circumstances.

This is the sentance you should have made bold really.
I don't think he is talking about over all legacy.

IMO what he is saying is that the Media made RJJ GREAT and he is not taking it away... But he is the man who beat him, who also bet the second man to beat RJJ.. so he says that he is a better boxer.

He also said or implied that when you compare him and Roy historically, you cannot put RJJ above him, which is totally absurd.

from that segment you pasted above, I don't see where it says that.
