I like Miguel. I've never quite understood all the hate towards him. If Puerto Ricans on the island don't like him because they expect a " 'Tito' personality," that's unfortunate. Cotto has his own persona, and he shouldn't be expected to act like something he's not. As for people outside the Puerto Rican community: Successful people will always have their share of detractors. It comes with the territory. Once your success diminishes, the hate drops accordingly....

I agree...good post....I like Cotto ALOT but at one time I hated him....for the corny reasons young fans hate on boxers....yea I admit I was quite immature when came to Cotto....he was beating my favs....at one time Zab was my ride or die guy along with B.Hop and Shane....Cotto beat him down....he beat Shane...he beat Clottey....ALL my dudes took a L from him....I was pissed....I went to hater rehab got a prescription for some haterade and BOOM!!! ....I can see Cotto for the warrior he is....one of the few throwback fighters left in the game....dude wants ALL the BIG names...gotta love that!!!

Everyone who achieves anything will be hated by the small minded for their success. Cotto is true warrior, but sadly he's just not the greatest boxer in a time of great boxers.

He's the Tommy Hearns of our time, he will most likely lose against the best of the best, but he'll always have the heart to step in there with them regardless of his chances.

Sadly it wont take long for the ts to turn this thread into a pr/mexico hatefest.
