Martinez is on top of the ****ing boxing world right now. Fighting manfredo would be pointless unless as some others have stated its strictly a stay busy between big fights kind of match.......buuuuut even then its kind of a sad matchup.

Martinez-Manfredo is in no way, shape or form a decent fight, unless used as a 'stay busy' fight, where he will fight legitimate competition within the next two months after this fight takes place.

I agree too. I feel he will beat MAnfredo and then fight Chavez jr in November on PPV......or Zibik should he win, which I don't think he will

This is not a stay busy fight. That's a cop out. Manny could easily use that excuse for Mosley, especially as he was beaten up a bit by Cotto, Clottey and Margarito.

HBO gave him a date, now DiBella is trying to get the most popular opponent possible. That's what it is. Since Manfredo was on the contender and has a good following in his hometown, he's top of the list. He'll be looking at the Cotto/Margo winner, Chavez Jr for the end of the year.

Why are people freaking out and dissing Martinez? This is just some broke boxer putting his name out there to get a fat paycheck. It's not like this is Martinez or his camp considering him as an opponent. People need to hold judgement until an actual fight with Martinez has been announced before they start having diarrhea at the mouth.
