it doesn't matter what ppl thought about Lacy before he fought Calzaghe, because the truth is, Lacy never beat any real fighter before Calzaghe, and he never beat anyone since. In fact, he got a couple gift decisions against bum fighters after Calzaghe.

and that is the truth, opinions aside.

Having said that, you acted like a **** about the whole thing and you were very, very wrong. It's laughable how badly you overrated Lacy, and it wasn't 'just a hunch', it was you constantly building him up for months. Trying to re-write it and make it a racial issue or claim that everyone else was just as ignorant as you is pure revisionism.
At least Lacy was KOing the journeymen he fought. Calzaghe was fighting no-hopers and getting hurt himself more than he was hurting anyone else.

That's a poor argument. Lacy's name should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Calzaghe. Truth be told.

Yeah... it doesn't matter. Nobody looks like a dumbass. Everyone said before the fight that Lacy will get schooled. Let's all brush it under the carpet and go home.

So do you still think Lacy should have been considered "the man" at 168?

The same thing happened with Miranda a year or two later.

People just get over-excited when they see someone look sensational against a journeyman. After Williams-Kolle and Pavlik-Lockett NSB went crazy as well.

Most people on here seem to dislike (or at least be indifferent to) Andre Berto. There's a lot of (somewhat justified) criticism of his standard of opposition. However I'd be willing to bet that if Berto had knocked out his last 3-4 opponents rather than outboxing them, loads of people in here would be crazy about him and pick him to destroy Shane, they wouldn't care that he hasn't fought great opposition yet.
Thats honestly what i and the other posters who are in this thread got caught up in. Calzhage was a nobody here, id only seen him on the *******s i downloaded and i wasnt that impressed. When he rematched mario veit for no reason at all it gave me the impression that he was scared, and seeing his feminine style of punching made it that much worse. Lacy was limited, but i saw very little in calzhage that made me believe that he would stand up to it. The Robin Ried fight got me caught up in the triangle theory madness.

Ill wholly admit i was wrong. But thankfully i wasnt the only one.

i forgot i even said that. i remember my mentality at this time 5 years ago, i think i was just frustrated that nobody was fighting each other. However me being me, i witheld my judgement.
