I'm actually pulling for him to suceed, but that gibbs fight was misleading.

I just checked out his fight against Berrio and his ring rust was apparent. I also didn't like the type of punches Berrio was landing on James (short hooks) and if that was a bigger puncher, like Angulo or Martinez, Kirkland would have got KO'd.

as soon as the Berrio fight was over his manager laughed and said "and these guys want him to fight Martinez" looking over at the press.

he knows it's a work in progress with James.

He should still look for a decent fight by the end of the summer. A couple more tune-ups in the next couple of months and he'll be closer to normal. The guy wasn't much of a boxer to begin with. He's all power punches. He just needs to get his speed back. He looks slower.

Kirkland is a monster, he hurts people with shots most can't. We still don't know what he can take and how he will do when someone actually fights back.

Angulo v Kirkland sounds like an instant classic and probably won't make it past the 4th round but would be fun to watch.
