Comments Thread For: Solis' Trainer: Klitschko Never Faced Such a Skilled Foe

When Cuban heavyweight sensation Odlanier Solis challenges WBC champion Vitali Klitschko at Lanxess-Arena in Cologne this Saturday (March 19th) he has one man in his corner whom he has known for most of his life. Pedro Luis Diaz Benitez met Solis in Havana when he was still a young kid and immediately recognized his outstanding talent. "We compared him to Roberto Balado who was the best super heavyweight of the world at that time", says Diaz. "It was obvious from the very first minute that the kid is spezial. He has got a spezial gift, he's a natural born athlete. He would have been world class in whatever sport he would have decided to do. He is made for success and nothing but success."

I hope Solis the Obese has made his hospital room reservation in advance.

This guy was nothing but respectful toward Vitali. It's too bad that Klit's fans don't show Solis the same respect.

As much as I want to believe in Solis's chances, the "professor's" word means nothing to me. Odlanier may or may not be the "most skilled" fighter Vitali has yet fought, but skilled fighters have had their butts handed to them before. Skill is just one component to success, especially in the pros.

So Solis is a more skilled pro than Lennox Lewis or Gomez?

To be honest I have seen only 3 of Solis's fights and I was not convinced he brings anything to the fight that Vitali hasn't seen befor. To me Juan Carlos Gomez from Cuba looked faster ,slicker and a more complete fighter(and we all know what happened to him when he fought Vitali) I could be wrong but I think Solis will end up like Arreola, a game fighter but in the end lose badly.
