Bute fights at 168, Martinez moved UP from 154 to fight Pavlik (who outweighed Martinez by 11 pounds on fight night). Both Bute and Pavlik are substantially bigger than Martinez.........who is a rather small MW to begin with.

But Sergio handled Pavlik. Sergio is #1 P4P, and the lineal MW king. Why shouldn't he target Bute, who like I said is the same size as Pavlik. Bute would only outweigh Sergio by around 10-12 lbs on fight night. Sergio must bring honor to the P4P crown.

If not then he should fight Winky Wright just to add another name on his resume or some 160 guy or go up to 168. He'll be as short as Abraham and Johnson, actually Johnson is 5'9", so Martinez won't be the shortest. And Martinez was almost a LHW on fight night against Dzinziruk.

This calling out welterweights/former welterweights is getting kinda boring. He's at 160 now, either fight the 160 guys like Kirkland, Pirog, Winky, Lee, Sturm, or drop the titles and go back down to 154. Yeah sure, he went up in weight to fight Williams and Pavlik, but two wrongs don't make a right. Plus people are forgetting that Martinez first claimed he's moving up to 160, no one made him go up there, he was gonna move up on his own terms. This pretty much sums up how I feel on this issue. Actually if he doesn't fight Kirkland or Pirog at 160 I really don't care who he fights. I'm still not 100% convinced on SErgio being P4P #1. His fights are against big names, but the skill level is nowhere near the resume of someone like Froch. I want to see how Martinez does against someone with decent movement. I think both Ward and Dirrell beat him, and I actually think Mayweather would win by a wider margin than most people think if they fought at 154.

This pretty much sums up how I feel on this issue. Actually if he doesn't fight Kirkland or Pirog at 160 I really don't care who he fights.

Kirkland is a 154 pound fighter. His first fight back from prison was at 163 but that's because he's still not in 100% tip top shape. He will be campaigning at 154.

I wonder how he'd do on the PPV if it's not against the cashcows. Dibella is just somehow hoping they'd land a fight with Manny/Floyd/Cotto. They should try building Martinez up on their own. I don't even think Argentineans are that well aware of him, let alone the Spanish speaking market.

judging by the crowd he had this past saturday he won't do too well without manny/floyd/cotto. hopefully he gets on of those three.

I love how people forget that he moved UP to fight Paul Williams the first fight. He moved UP to fight Pavlik. And now, all he does he "make smaller guys move up".

People see and hear what they want to. Especially Pacquiao fans (not to be confused with legit boxing fans).
