    "Deserves Cushy Fight!!!???"

I think this is whats going wrong with boxing....Someone fights a tough fight then have six months off then when they are ready to fight again, they say because of the fight six months ago they deserve an easy fight...****** logic...FIght the bext, why even have rankings if you don't fight the next in line or the next availiable in the ranking....

I'm not really into that "he deserves a soft touch" ****. If a guy's been facing top opposition and then faces an easier opponent, I'll be less critical, but I'm not going to support taking easy fights when guys are fighting 2-3 times a year.

It's not like they're J.C. Chavez or James Toney in the early 90s, champs fighting 6-10 times a year.

with the exception of the regularity (which has changed in boxing period) he is doing what guys like Ray Leonard did as well

for every Hearns there was a Larry Bonds for every Duran fight there was a Bruce Finch

back then they were called stay busy fights and that, IMO, is what Martinez is doing since there doesn't seem to be a big fight at 160 right now

Tuneups for fighters that are rolling is dumb. Not only does it hurt you in the pocketbook for that fight it hurts momentum of you becoming a star. This isn't the old days where you are active all year and fight a ton of times. You now fight once or twice a year. Take a cushy fight means for top fighters you are taking a whole year off in a sport where skills diminish quickly. It's a dumb theory and has hurt not only the fanbase of boxing but has also hurt fighters as well.
