So at what point is Sergio Martinez not over rated?

Sergio has fought the best competition available to him, I don't think either Floyd or Manny want to fight him. To me Sergio is just as good as Floyd or Manny right now if not better.

For all of you that continue to call Sergio over rated, what does he have to do to prove to you that he's not? Sergio has beaten Pavlik, Williams (in sensational fashion), and Dzinzuruk. Wasn't Dzinzuruk supposed to be a skilled technician with a great jab who would trouble Marvilla? What happened to Dzinzurk's jab? Dzinzuruk wasn't the come forward slugger that Pavlik and Williams are. Sergio showed his versatility by knocking down a skilled boxer who had never been knocked down before. At least Marvilla has proven that he can beat another style. When will people realize that Sergio is a special fighter and may be the best fighter in the world, including Floyd?

My thing is that for a guy with no amateur career at all and who didn't start boxing until 20, beating the level of competition that he is right now is nothing short of amazing. If that's being overhyped, then I can't see how anyone could ever be called great.

I keep hearing people say he needs to move up. But if i recall correctly he stepped up to challenge pavlik. I think he should be next in line to fight either manny or floyd but i get the feeling he will not get that chance. I'd say the only other thing he could do right now is avenge the Margarito loss and not that i think Margarito has a chance but it will atleast have a story behind it.

Hes not over rated, not even close. If anything he was under rated coming into his last two fights. As a huge fan of Martinez, even I didnt think he could do what he did to Dizzy, that was amazing. Sergio is definitely up there with anybody in the sport.

Ignorant people to sport of boxing call him overrated, first you look at the fighters talent and skill set, the only boxer above that is Floyd. then you look at his resume, yes it was weak which is why people say he is overrated, but regardless of who he has fought before the bunema fight he recorded 43 wins and one loss to a young and talented Margarito. then we see how he has progressed as a boxer, a draw against cintron which we all know was not a draw, a first fight with Williams that could go either way, proceeds to beat down Pavlik, then follows with amazing knockout of Williams in the rematch, then destroys the top contender for his belt. Pound for pound is based on the translation of one fighters skills to other weight classes and his recent wins, considering his skill and natural talent is second to Floyd and considering his last 3 wins trump pacs last five and throwing in that Floyd is inactive, it is crazy to think he is overrated and non-deserving of the p4p king title

Well its funny because Pacquaio also have no amatuer career and also younger but yet he accomplished far more **** than martinez has and is right now fighting at his 7th weight class and dominating and people got the nerve to say he is ducking a guy who is now campaigning 2 weight classes above him while at the same time discrediting pacquaio whole accomplishment even though he basically cleaned out 147 and still people call him a cherry picker because he didn't fight berto.....who actually is a known ducker who hasn't fought any top 10 fighter at 147 even though he is a champion. Since martinez is fighting everybody....then how come his only great win is a kelly pavlik coming off a lost, and paul williams. How come his resume is nowhere pacquaio's at all.

What is sad that the same people who criticized floyd for fighting marquez to move up 2 weight class to fight him are the same people who support Martinez calling out floyd and pacquaio.

I just dont get how the **** martinez gets a pass for calling 2 fighters who couldn't make 154 at all and both said are very uncomfortable at the weight class.

where do I start, lets see Pac did have an amateur career with a record of 60-4, Pavlik was coming off back to back wins and only loss was to Hopkins. Sergio is not fighting at catch weights and he is fighting top comp unlike manny, Pavlik lineal champ, Paul Williams and Dzinziruk both number 1 contenders, Sergio wants the best and Floyd and manny are the best. roach himself said manny was fighting at Welter because he got hurt at 154 and Mayweather said himself he would fight Martinez
