Sergio has got himself known now after some good wins. Before Pavlik no one knew him.
But thats what grreat fighters are supposed to do, which is win. Pac has been doing it for years and Sergio has just got his stuff together.

If he loses his next fight, than he will be setback a bit and people will say what the fuss was about.

He shouldnt be raned above BH though.

      Here are some fun facts:

      1. If Manny or Floyd tried to face Cotto at 154, people would have a heart attack, but Martinez vs Cotto will be the greatest thing since slice bread.
Uhh no. Martinez-Cotto is for the bronze since neither Floyd nor Manny will face him.
      2. Martinez going after smaller men for money and P4P ranking is what's hot, yet people flame Floyd for the Marquez bout, and even Manny even tries to face Marquez next, even though they the same size and have unsettled business between each other, it considered cherry picking on Manny's part.
Martinez isn't going after smaller men, he's going after the best, big or small. Why are you hiding your hero, Top Rank?

most people put floyd at number 2 coming from "retirement" for beating marquez and had him at number 1 after beating mosley all the while manny has been dominant againts oscar, cotto, and hatton. manny being higher than martinez is a hell a lot more acceptable than that imo.

then again, there is no real standard to how to go about these rankings.
Yeah, there is no real standard. But as it stands today, Manny is fighting his third consecutive undeserving challenger while Martinez has been beating th every best from 154-160.

i think clottey was his last good win. margarito was not as bad as people claim cause of the huge weight advantage, and mosley fight is garbage.

pacquiao has to pick it up, or retire..

For the guy making the excuse that people flamed Floyd for the Marquez bout there is a difference.

Floyd made Marquez move up to semi welterweight. Martinez isnt forcing anyone to move up. Hes willing to mvoe down to 154, so what is the problem?

If Margarito is not as bad then I guess Mosley is good. Hey, he beat Margarito right? Think again. Both were "turrible", as Charles Barkely would say. And Clottey was an undeserving challenger as well.

i was rooting for the margarito fight to happen but i can why people would have a problem with it.

clottey was a pretty decent win IMO.

Why not a top guy at MW until he can get Floyd or Manny? Why not Pirog, Golovkin or N'Jakim? Fvkk fan bases, records and who have you beat because those guys, along with Sturm, are clearly the most talented MW's. Why are you making excuses for him not being a champ and facing the best in his weight class and instead wanted to go after Chavez Jr. and Andy Lee?

Dazed you know d@mn well you've see my old sig. I would love to see Martinez vs Pacquiao and hopefully it will happen after Manny and Floyd fight. This isn't about that though, rather is about Martinez getting a pass for things people slaughter guys like Berto, Floyd and others for.

Clottey is nothing more than a contender. One who often comes up small in the biggest moment. He barely beat Cotto, who went was promptly manhandled by Manny. No brainer there and nothing special.

                      The Margarito fight was atrocious.
