How the hell is cotto the WBA super champion?

He only defended the belt once and hasn't unified the standard with the interim by beating Austin trout.

Because all of the sanctioning bodies are fuckheads, but the WBA puts the rest to shame in the field of fuckheadery.

no but no dig on cotto its just i wonder what the wba is thinking, it's like they make up their rules.

Amir Khan isn't the super champ and he's defended 3 times including the interim champ maidana.

like I heard someone from a youtube video say, " boxing is that slutty hoe you love and hate but can't leave"

It's so dirty, corrupt and nothing make sense but at the end of the day you're still hanging on.

It's supposed to be for unified titlists, but depending on the fighter and promoter/manager/adviser, they'll break their own rules.

Just look at the 126, they have 2 "super" and a regular champions because they upgraded Chris John similar to the way they did Cotto, Margarito, and Mosley, then Gamboa won the WBA "regular" title and unified against Salido, thus 2 "super" titlist. Oh and they had sanctioned a Barros fight for the interim title (or was it the regular?) then upgraded him to the "regular".

                  It's just ridiculous.

The WBA recognizes the title holders from the WBC, WBO and IBF organizations. The WBA refers to a champion who holds two or more of these titles in the same weight class as an "undisputed champion" or "super champion". This applies even if the WBA title is not one of the titles held by the "undisputed champion".[5][6] In September 2008, Nate Campbell was recognized as lightweight "undisputed champion" for his WBO and IBF titles, while the WBA's own champion was Yusuke Kobori.[7]

If one of the multiple titles held to earn the designation WBA Super Champion is the WBA's own title, then the fighter is promoted to Super Champion and their regular title becomes vacant for other WBA-ranked boxers to fight for. Thus, the WBA tables will sometimes show a WBA Super Champion and a WBA Regular Champion for the same weight class.

Sometimes it is possible for a regular champion to become super champion without adding another organization's title; Chris John is an example.
