When Margarito fought Pac, you can actually tell he had a gameplan, an actual BOXING gameplan, which was jab to try and keep pac on the outside, cut cut cut the ring, and hammer the body, I knew there was no way Pac could knock him out....
Now as far as Cotto's last fight, Not cuz I'm rican, everyone knows i'm not biased, but if people don't see that Cotto looks a whole lot better as a fighter, they're just hating, his footwork looked awesome, THROWING THE RIGHT LIKE A BOMB, defense is greatly improved....
All these are just more factors to contribute to the fight with Margarito... As far as power, I think they have the same amount of power, They both go to the body a lot, it's gonna be a great fight!!!!!!
Let's be real here for a second, Cotto has been a fighter for 20 years, as good as Stewart is, he isn't going to to change the way Cotto fights. At least not in the championship rounds when his back is pushed against the wall.
The same way Marg isn't going to learn to be slick from Robert Garcia, fighters like Cotto and Marg are too far in their careers to change that now.
Cotto has looked better, but who has it been against? A sub par fighter in Foreman who had a bum knee and Mayorga who has been done for 5 years.
I'm not hating on Cotto, I'm really not I just don't think as a fan of Cotto you should get overly excited about his performances in his last two fights.
As we both know, Marg is a completely different animal than these two.Comment

If you know me as a poster you know I like Cotto, I don't get into this Mexico vs PR bull****.

I saw Margo improved in areas as well JABBING, which was crazy to me, not discrediting him, but it looked like he was forcing the jab, it didn't look natural to him u know? but he was still doing it and u can see from Pac's face that it did have effect, his physical appearnce was awesome, which means conditioning was great as well, and the chin hasn't gone away either....
wish the fight was tomorrow lolComment

Yep. Overall though, marg has always displayed granite chin when he's conditioned.Comment

right, i'm not arguing what ur aying, but Cotto is improved like it ir not, ur right Steward can't change the WHOLE PACKAGE that Cotto is, but he can damn sure improve on details, footowork, jab, defense, latteral movement, etc...

I also think the mental edge goes to Marg, with the whole wrap scandal and the fact he's beaten Cotto before. I feel like Marg is very confident going into this fight and Cotto will have to fight off some daemons to win.Comment

Can't wait for this fight. Cotto is gonna break the right side of Margarito's face with those left hooks he was hitting Mayorga with.Comment

No I get what Stewart was saying. Cotto has to control the pace and force Margarito back with a steady dose of hard jabs and hooks to the body. Can he do it? I'm sure he can, and I'm sure he can't. It all depends on Margarito. Steward has improved Cotto's endurance, so that is a positive.
He may not break that bone, but his face and the bruising he'll get from here on out will never recover. Before the Margarito fight, Cotto's face never took extreme mark ups. Since then, he marks up easy (note the Pac and Mayorga fight). The beating that Margarito took from Pac makes me believe that his face will be soft from here on out. Cotto's jab is one of the most effective and powerful in the sport and it'll have a home all night. I just think it'll cause mark ups and bruising quite early and perhaps take Margarito out of his game.
I said in another thread, I prefer if this fight takes place in September/October time frame, so both fighters can heal more. I'm just concerned now about Tony's ability to absorb damage like he use to.
The question going into this fight is can Cotto take Margarito's body shots and can Margarito take Cotto's headshots?
I think that Margarito will have his best chances in the final three rounds to pressure Cotto where he tends to fade. I'm not so sure if Cotto will allow himself for that to happen, though. He knows that there is a lot of speculation surrounding the first fight and despite it happening nearly three years ago, the fight is brought up constantly (and would've been brought up constantly even without the plaster incident). I don't think Cotto will fold again like last time, that would be painful and a devastating blow to his confidence from here on out.
Margarito can probably take anything Cotto dishes out, what I'm wondering is whether or not his face can hold up.
Interesting match-up. I can't wait to see it.Comment
