Comments Thread For: Roach: Mosley Won't Box Pacquiao, He'll Go For The KO

Freddie Roach, trainer of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, expects "Sugar" Shane Mosley to go for a knockout in the early rounds of their championship fight on May 7th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Roach considers Mosley's right hand as the primary weapon that Pacquiao has to avoid. The first four rounds will be the most dangerous for Pacquiao, says Roach.

As with every fighter he's ever faced. I don't think I've ever heard a fighter say "I'm going for the decision!".

Same song different tune. On the bright side it's entertainment, can't complain about that.

I still don't understand how Mosley is only dangerous early in the fight. Didn't he knock out Mayorga in the 12th? Margarito in the 9th? The only reason they say Mosley is dangerous early is because of the Mayweather fight. Even tho I'm not buying this fight I wish Mosley well.

because Pac is not Mayorga or Margarito. Pac is actually the best fighter in a welterweight and in the world. Pac gets stronger while Mosley gets weaker as the fight goes on..

who does roach think he's foolin'? Mosley has never been a knockout fighter, he just takes them when they come. Mayweather could have knocked Shane out if he wanted to, so when Pac claims to be "the only man to ever knock shane mosely out" it'll be kind of pointless, just like being a "former jr middle wt champ."

don't know the last time Shane didn't try to knock his opponent's head off....Shane Mosley and going for the KO has been part of the same sentence for years....May 7th will be no different.....I don't listen to the so called experts....I have my own mind....I don't look at stats....what they HIDE is vital...something like bikinis .....you're only good as your last fight...thats the saying.....Shane's last 24 rounds is stuck in the minds of many but Manny's last 24 rounds were against made to order fighters.....Shane's was against his poison.....dudes can be smart and worried for Manny(I would if I was a fan of his)...or they can act like Shane is there to pick up a few M's and take a L.....Shane is coming to win....win big

                  1) Take a look at Mosley as a lightweight. He was a KO artist. As he's moved up in weight, he's knocked out people who have been significantly heavier than him, such as Vargas and Mayorga. He's also stopped Antonio Margarito, who many argued had the best chin in boxing at the time.

                  2) Shane Mosley is considered a legend by many, and he has only been down twice in his career. He has always displayed a great chin. With that said, "being the only man to ever knock Shane Mosley" out is worth stating.

As much as I am a fan of Shane, I agree with your points.
