Admit it: EMANUEL STEWARD = OVERRATED

I know he is a beloved figure in the sport, but the guy is no where close to the best trainer in the game today.

Not saying he is bad, because he is a solid trainer.

But Andy Lee looks IDENTICAL to the fighter who lost to Vera awhile back. And Cotto tonight looked terrible. Maybe thats not stewards fault, cause Cotto is getting old and its hard to teach an old fighter new tricks, but besides Klitschko what has Steward done lately?

Every fighter he touches either devolves or stays relatively the same. He is overrated IMO. He stresses the Jab too much and neglects to teach his fighters a solid inside game.

You guys will probably disagree, but Stewards lost his touch IMO. Either that, or his fighters are just too old to practice what he preaches

he might be losing his touch as a trainer. it happens.

the problem with Steward is that he expects all his fighters to fight one way. some fighters it works great(Hearns, Wladimir, Lewis...), some not so much.

very solid trainer with great credentials, but hes not for everyone. the best trainers all time like Arcel and Futch could take very different fighters and prescribe specific strategies around them. and thats what made them the best.

Yep. Completely agree. Steward needs a specific fighter to excel with. The best trainers, like the ones you mentioned, took fighters from street brawlers to pure boxers and made them better with what they had.

Cotto using his jab more is great, but he's dropped of way too much on the left hook to the body. I could count the number good left hooks he threw tonight over the whole fight on one hand. That's pathetic for something that's meant to be your best weapon.

Cotto looked like ****? Damn. I think he's too small for 154. I guess I have to see for myself.

Cotto didn't looked good at all, bad defense STILL! and don't see much improvement applying good technique. Oh and yes stamina -_- still gassing out in the middle rounds onwards. Emmanuel has either missed al this **** or cotto just doesn't understand him. If he goes up against Marg. he'd lose no doubt.

agreed. Steward is what i'd call a one dimensional trainer

In Stewards defense Cotto has been neglecting his body attack for the last few years. I was hoping Steward would bring back that OBVIOUS lack in Cottos game, and it seemed he did in the Foreman fight, but it seems he didn't for whatever reason for this fight. Was a big mistake
