No one looks good against mayorga. I give him props he was in good shape

Lots of people have looked good against him. Oscar was all but shot and looked like he was back to his best against him. He wasn't but that was because of Mayorga making him look great, not Oscar.

Anyway, I thought it was a pretty piss weak fight all up. 38 years old for ****s sake and hasn't fought in two years basically and his last fight was a KO loss against another old man! Cotto should have bloody stepped on it and knocked him out way earlier! Mayorga always gets hit by a counter left hook. Always. It's what all of his losses have been from and Cotto should have been in there landing it so much earlier than round 12.

To take that many shots and have that much trouble against a 38 year old Mayorga is not a good sign.

Maybe it was because I wanted a more exciting fight....?

Didn't surprise me at all that even an old, shot-up Mayorga could hang with Cotto, rock him a bit and bump him up.

Because Cotto is above his optimum weight, naturally smaller than Mayorga and not as durable, more of a strong puncher at 154 than a dynamite one, etc.


Cotto should try to avenge his loss to Margarito and bow out after that. There isn't a great deal left.

He isn't overrated except by boriquas.

He's mostly acknowledged as a consistent deliverer of gripping action fights and a very good fighter. That's fair. Considering all the blood he's given the sport, you don't give him much regard back.



How can you talk about overrating, BTW? You're the guy who overrated trash like Foreman by predicting a pansy-ass like that could beat Cotto and end him in boxing, based on 'his style'...a style he isn't even a very good exponent of at the Championship level.
Styles makes fights is all well and good, but if the guy isn't that great at the style then it isn't the kryptonite and the stylistic disadvantage isn't as hard to overcome.

I am not going to say Mayorga did not injure his wrist, but you cannot tell when it happened. Cotto's left hook was good, but I definitely question a injury on Mayorga's arm. And since Mayorga basically quit off the injury, there should be su****ion of the injury and the situation.
